The client wanted to streamline the RFP process for clinical trials outsourcing starting from RFP development through to contract execution. The client was facing the following pain points with the current process:

  • Error-prone process: The current process was paper-based and included a lot of manual activities leading to errors.
  • Long cycle times: Extensive manual activity and tracking resulted in longer cycle times for each task.
  • Lack of visibility: Due to excessive use of Excel spreadsheets and email, there was no visibility into the overall process.

The Solution

Princeton Blue used the Appian Low-code platform to build a clinical trials outsourcing solution that would create a foundation for further improvements. The solution standardized the process, improved controls and process visibility.

The solution allowed the client to draft an RFP and release it to selected vendors via the Appian application. Once the draft is released, cost estimates obtained from selected vendors are shown in the application.

The vendors could also submit questions while completing the estimate and get clarifications in real-time. The estimates are compared against each other to finalize the vendor(s).

The solution streamlined the entire process, reduced usage of disconnected tools such as Excel and email, and helped provide full visibility into this process for all stakeholders.
